Occupational Therapy focuses on human activity. During your studies, we will teach you the knowledge and skills you need to work as an occupational therapist in a client-centred and everyday-oriented manner.  

The Bachelor's degree programme in Occupational Therapy is the first of its kind in Baden-Württemberg. It comprises a double qualification, consisting of the academic degree Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and state recognition as an occupational therapist.

During your studies, you will not only acquire important knowledge in the fields of medicine, psychology and social sciences, but we will also teach you proven and new treatment methods. In addition, we will give you insights into the scientific foundations of occupational therapy. During the four practical phases and numerous work placements, you will receive comprehensive, intensive practical training with at least 1,700 hours of practical experience.

Joint modules for students of occupational therapy, physiotherapy and music therapy enable intensive, interdisciplinary exchange. This promotes understanding for later collaboration with the aim of providing optimal care for patients.

Completing your bachelor's degree in occupational therapy opens up many career opportunities for you. You can work in outpatient, inpatient and complementary facilities, or you can set up your own occupational therapy practice. There, you can treat people with motor, neurological and mental illnesses, as well as children with developmental delays or behavioural problems.

Your academic career could also lead you to a doctorate and habilitation.

In order to view people in your future professional life from an occupational therapy perspective and accompany them in their everyday lives, you will study sociology, psychology, anatomy and medicine on the basis of the fundamentals of occupational therapy. Building on this, you will progress step by step through the various areas of occupational therapy, from young to old, and the practical training.You will learn everything you need to know about the German healthcare system and scientific work. This will lay the foundations for your entry into the versatile and varied profession of occupational therapist.

To apply for the Bachelor's degree programme in Occupational Therapy, you will need: 

• General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (subject-specific Abitur) or technical college entrance qualification
• or at least two years of vocational training and at least three years of professional experience plus an aptitude test
• Successful completion of the selection process*
• At least three weeks of work experience** in the field of occupational therapy
• Curriculum vitae with current passport photo
• Copy of ID card (front and back); for foreign students, a copy of their national identity card
• Police clearance certificate
• Medical certificate
