The B.A. Fashion Design shapes a new generation of designers who think beyond materials and trends.

Fashion is approached as a hybrid practice—connecting design, storytelling, media, technology, and culture.

From the very beginning, students work across disciplines: creating fashion and combining fashion design with photography, film, digital tools, and emerging technologies. Studio-based learning, labs, and hands-on realization modules enable them to develop ideas through experimentation, making, and critical reflection.

The programme integrates sustainability as a core design perspective, alongside an understanding of contemporary fashion systems, communication, and the global creative economy.

Throughout the programme, you develop your own design identity while working through the full design process - from research and concept to prototyping and collection development. Project-based formats such as fashion labs, studio practice, and realisation modules support the creation of tangible outcomes, including portfolios, garments, and collections.

You gain strong creative and technical foundations in fashion design methodology, form, materials, and construction, while also working with media, exhibition design, sustainability projects, digital tools and AI-supported processes. At the same time, you explore fashion as a cultural, social, and communicative practice through theory, research, and critical discourse.

The fashion industry is undergoing transformation – digital technologies, sustainability, and new business models are creating exciting opportunities. Graduates of the Fashion Design (B.A.) are well equipped to actively shape this change. They work as designers in international labels or develop their own collections and brands. Careers in digital fashion production, such as 3D design, AR/VR, or AI, are also possible.

In the Bachelor's programme in Fashion Design, you will learn the basics of fashion design – from form, colour and silhouette to cutting techniques, materials and conceptual thinking. Creative design is combined with technological innovation and entrepreneurial skills.

Digital tools such as Adobe and CLO3D, as well as AR/VR and AI applications, are an integral part of the curriculum. You will develop physical and virtual collections, experiment with new presentation formats and explore sustainable design, textile technologies and global fashion cultures.

Practice-oriented studios, elective modules such as Digital Couture or Fashion Film, an internship and your bachelor's thesis allow you to specialise in specific areas and prepare you for a wide range of careers in the fashion industry.

To apply for th bachelor's degree programme Fashion Design, you need:

• Recognised university entrance qualification, e.g. the German Abitur, Fachhochschulreife or an equivalent international qualification that entitles you to study at a university in Germany*
• Proof of your English language skills* (TOEFL with at least 80 points, IELTS with 6.5 or Duolingo with 110 points) or an official letter from your previous educational institution confirming that your lessons were conducted in English (Medium of Instruction Letter)
• Curriculum vitae with current passport photo
• Copy of your ID card (front and back); for foreign students, a copy of your passport or national identity card
