The Master in Islamic Banking and Finance (MIBF) programme is designed to develop highly skilled professionals equipped with advanced knowledge of Islamic financial systems, banking operations, and Shariah-compliant practices.   • Analyse Islamic Banking and Finance concepts, theories, and research methodologies with creativity and independence in critically assessing and synthesising complex information.
  • Integrate information interactively and critically to address challenges in Islamic Banking and Finance through research, tools, and decision-making strategies.
  • Conduct both standard and specialised research methodologies in response to contemporary Islamic Banking and Finance practices and challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse professional and academic communities locally and globally.

  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75 can be accepted, subject to rigorous internal assessment (may include tests, interviews or portfolio); or
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted, subject to a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment (may include tests, interviews or portfolio); or
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to having relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment (may include tests, interviews or portfolio); or
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment (may include tests, interviews or portfolio); or
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses; or
  • Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) as recognized by the Malaysian Government.


English Competency Requirement (International Student)

Candidates who wish to enter a program which medium of instruction is English language must pass the English Language Qualification (TOEFL: 60 / IELTS: 6.0) or MUET band 4, or equivalent to CEFR (Mid B2). Exemption will be granted subject to the University Senate’s approval based on situations.

The applicant may enrol in this programme under Structure A (Research).

Full Time: 1.5 Years (3 Semesters), 4 Years (8 Semesters)

Part Time: 3 Years (6 Semesters), 6 Years (12 Semesters)

The applicant is required to complete a subject titled Research Methodology before commencing research work under the supervision of an academic staff member from the Postgraduate Studies Department.

Shariah-Compliant Financial Analyst, Islamic Banking Manager, Shariah Auditor, Policy Advisor, Researcher in Islamic Finance and other related career.

For international students studying On Campus (OC) mode, Visa Fees and University Bond fees are excluded.
