The Master in Accounting (MAcc) programme is designed to produce graduates with advanced expertise in accounting, financial analysis, and research. It emphasises analytical thinking, ethical responsibility, and leadership to prepare professionals capable of addressing complex challenges in the evolving global business and financial environment.

  • Demonstrate originality and independence in critically evaluating, analysing, and synthesising complex accounting information, concepts, theories, and research methods.
  • Apply knowledge critically and integratively to resolve complex accounting problems using advanced tools, techniques, and decision-making skills.

  • Analyse numerical, financial, and graphical data using mathematical, statistical, and qualitative tools for advanced accounting research.
  • Demonstrate autonomy, accountability, and leadership in making decisions and managing teams to address critical accounting and business challenges.

  • Exhibit entrepreneurial skills through accounting-related projects that reflect awareness of national and regional sociopolitical, economic, and cultural contexts.
  • Contribute to the development of social, technological, and economic systems both locally and globally while maintaining ethical and professional standards.

  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in accounting or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75, as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in accounting or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment (may include tests, interviews or portfolio) as determined by the HEP; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Non-Accounting field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to:
  • A thorough rigorous assessment (may include tests, interviews or portfolio) as determined by the HEP to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that equivalent to their minimum of working experience; or
  • Five (5) years of working experience in the relevant field or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in accounting or a related field below a CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years of working experience in the relevant field; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Non-Accounting field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment (may include tests, interviews or portfolio) as determined by the HEP to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that equivalent to their working experience in the Accounting or related fields; or
  • A relevant professional accounting qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
  • Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) recognized by the Government of Malaysia must fulfil the requirement on item i or ii.


English Competency Requirement (International Student)

Candidates who wish to enter a program which medium of instruction is English language must pass the English Language Qualification (TOEFL: 60 / IELTS: 6.0) or MUET band 4, or equivalent to CEFR (Mid B2). Exemption will be granted subject to the University Senate’s approval based on situations.

The applicant may enrol in this programme under Structure A (Research).

Full Time: 2 Years (4 Semesters), 3 Years (6 Semesters)

Part Time: 3 Years (6 Semesters), 5 Years (10 Semesters)

The applicant is required to complete a subject titled Research Methodology before commencing research work under the supervision of an academic staff member from the Postgraduate Studies Department.

Chartered Accountant, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Forensic Accountant, Tax Advisor, Accounting Academic and other related career.

For international students studying On Campus (OC) mode, Visa Fees and University Bond fees are excluded.
