Interaction Design

In this module, you learn how to develop interactive products and how to encourage your users to interact with animated elements.

GUI

This module teaches you how to design appealing user interfaces and which methods you can use to create them.

User Experience Design

In this module, you will familiarise yourself with creative methods such as “design thinking” in order to develop intuitive apps and services for users.

The Media Design degree programme in Berlin provides you with theoretical and practical training. After you have acquired important knowledge in animation, graphic and web design, you can deepen this knowledge directly through practical exercises.

You will learn how to design media using type, form, colour, material, light, movement, and sound in order to create specific communication tools for companies and their various channels.

In the Media Design degree programme, the focus is on design. You will learn the basics of conception and design, deal with art history, semiotics and visual language and deal with perception and impact research.

Animated posters

Macromedia students designed posters and animations for concerts given by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in collaboration with the coaching agency Heye.

Optimised communication

The students helped the public school in Wuppertal to sharpen its online presence and optimise its portrayal to the public.

Creative campaign

In teamwork, design students conceived social media campaigns for Adobe and competed against each other in pitches.

Further, applicants who have not graduated from school with English as language of instruction are required to provide a sufficient language certificate. For the Bachelor’s programmes taught in English, the following language criteria must be met: TOEFL (iBT) with at least 72 out of 120 points or IELTS with at least 6.0 out of 9.0 or equivalent.

For the Design Bachelor degree programme, you also need a digital portfolio with work samples according to the following criteria:

• Digital portfolio with 10 to 25 design or concept-oriented pieces of work in a portfolio e.g. animations*, drawings, paintings, sketchbooks, photos, computer graphics, websites, short films*; can include text-based works such as creative concepts, concepts for games
• File name: first name, surname and date
• Format: collected in one PDF
• Submission: via e-mail or download link to the student advisors (max. 20 MB)

*Video sequences such as animations/short films:

• File name: first name, surname and date
• Format: MPEG-4 or MP4
• Resolution: longest side max. 1920 px
• Transmission: via download link to the student advisors (max. 500 MB)

Please note: Your work examples should not be older than two years. Design elements and photographs that you did not create yourself must be marked accordingly.
