PhD in Information and Communication Technology

1. PEO1: Graduates who are able to manage ICT resources with advance knowledge and communication skills, in accordance to professional and ethical standards.
2. PEO2: Graduates who are able to expand their knowledge and understanding with a balance of theory and practical skills.
3. PEO3: Graduates who are able to investigate and effectively manage research projects.
4. PEO4: Graduates who are able to seek knowledge through lifelong learning and venture into ICT entrepreneurship.

1. PLO1: Demonstrate an ability to conceptualize, design and implement ICT projects for the generation of significant new knowledge and/or understanding.
2. PLO2: Show the ability to relate theory and concepts to evidence in a systematic comprehension and in-depth understanding to draw appropriate conclusions based on the evidence.
3. PLO3: Recognize the limitations of the undertaken research and to be able to suggest ways to overcome them in future research.
4. PLO4: Communicate effectively with practitioners, researchers, and academia, scholarly communities and society at large through technical and academic writings and presentations.
5. PLO5: Extend the boundary of knowledge in the field of specialization through a clearly and effectively written thesis, which has been presented and defended according to International standards.
6. PLO6: Use academic and professional behaviour that is consistent with codes of research ethics, legal requirements, and social responsibility.
7. PLO7: Produce quality research papers which satisfies international acceptance and standards.
8. PLO8: Conduct scientific research effectively.
9. PLO9: Apply entrepreneurship and managerial skills, as well as insight into the transferable nature of research skills to other work environments and the range of opportunities within and outside their field.

1. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in Computing or related fields as accepted by
2. the HEP Senate; OR
3. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in NonComputing fields with a minimum of FIVE (5) years of working experience in Computing or related fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses as determined by the HEP; OR
4. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in NonComputing fields with less than FIVE (5) years of working experience in Computing or related fields must undergo a thorough rigorous assessment as determined by the HEP to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that equivalent to their working experience in the Computing or related fields; OR
5. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in Computing or related fields recognised by the Government of Malaysia as equivalent to the above requirement.

Language Requirements – For International Students

Where the medium of instruction of a course is English and if applicant’s first language is other than English, applicants are required to obtain a score of either:

English language proficiency exam with a minimum overall band score of :

– Band 4 in MUET or equivalent to CEFR (Mid B2).

– 60 in TOEFL or

– 6.0 in IELTS.

Full Time: 6 – 10 Semesters (3 – 5 Academic Years)

Part Time: 8 – 14 Semesters (4 – 7 Academic Years)
