Master of Laws (LL.M)

A Master of Laws (LL.M) can open doors to rewarding careers in teaching law and legal research. This programme is an excellence option for individuals looking for diversity and a chance to explore alternate career paths within the field of law. Students are empowered to nurture a critical analysis and grasp the areas of law. This would encourage the exploration, inquiry and further understanding of the boundaries of contemporary application of the relevant specialised area of law. The Master of Laws (LL.M) is designed to enhance the theoretical and practical expertise of students and provide them with a professional edge.

The Master of Laws (LL.M) courses offered are predominantly driven by the needs of contemporary legal practice. They include courses in highly specialized areas as well as general areas where the principles underpinning that area are complex and require a depth of understanding.

Local Admission

Bachelor’s Degree:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Law or Shariah with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 out of 4.0 or its equivalent qualification as accepted by the HEP senate; OR (Level 7, MQF) as accepted by the Senate; OR
• A Bachelor’s degree in Law or Shariah not meeting CGPA of 2.75 but above CGPA of 2.50 out of 4.0 or its equivalent qualification as accepted, subject to the Higher Education Provider rigorous internal assessment; OR
• A Bachelor’s degree in Law or Shariah below a CGPA of 2.50 out of 4.0 or its equivalent qualification as accepted, subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience; OR

APEL.A:

Pass APEL.A T-7; OR

Notes:

Master’s Degree for specialized LL.M for example Masters in Construction Law, Intellectual Property or Banking Law, applicants without a Bachelor of Laws can be considered, provided they have a degree and experience in the related field of studies.

Additional Requirement for Entry Qualification in Non-Related Field:

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience and Pass the evaluation on personal statement demonstrating knowledge, skills, experience and achievement related to the programme; OR
• Pass additional pre-requisite courses

English proficiency requirement:

Achieve a minimum Band 4 in MUET; OR IELTS Band 6; OR TOEFL iBT score of 6.0 (equivalent to CEFR Mid B2)

Related fields for Master of Laws and Doctor of Philosophy in Law are:

• Other field is subject to the Senate’s approval

Evaluation on working experience and personal statement to compensate for CGPA and non related fields do not stack over each other. The same evaluation satisfies both requirements. Need to add a bridging program to fulfill the requirement.

International Admission

The English Language Entry Requirement for International Student at University of GEOMATIKA Malaysia are as follows:

• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Band 6.0
• Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) – Score 600

** For students who do not have the above English Qualification, they must undergo Geomatika’s English Program
