In the Social Work bachelor’s programme, you gain solid knowledge that qualifies you for a wide range of roles in the social sector. It combines academic qualification with early and continuous German language training and integration support, starting even before the beginning of the program. Alongside core social work skills, the programme helps you integrate into the German job market both professionally and linguistically. You study key foundations in theory, history, methodology, psychology, sociology, health sciences, social policy and law. Practice-oriented modules cover crisis intervention, aesthetic-media practice, professional development and ethics. Through hands-on learning phases, including at least 100 days of internship, project work and excursions, you apply your knowledge directly. Additional D-modules strengthen your professional German language skills and prepare you effectively for communication with clients, authorities and organisations.

The Social Work bachelor’s degree offers excellent career prospects in Germany, as the shortage of skilled professionals in the social sector has been growing for years and qualified staff are urgently needed. By integrating language acquisition, academic training, and professional accreditation, the program offers a clear and reliable pathway into Social Work in Germany. Intercultural skills, multilingualism and an understanding of migration experiences are particularly valuable in this field. The program is explicitly aimed at international students, as we believe that their perspectives and lived experiences enrich Social Work and society far beyond intercultural or interreligious dimensions. Possible areas of employment include:

  • Child and youth services
  • Work in integration centres, migration services and support agencies
  • Counselling, support and case management in social services
  • Social-pedagogical work in schools
  • Family counselling, parenting support and work with parents
  • Community work and neighbourhood-based projects
  • Roles in health and social care institutions
  • Positions with welfare associations, youth services and municipal organisations
  • Social management and project coordination in social organisations
  • Prevention projects, outreach social work and crisis intervention

The degree programme combines scientific principles with practical experience and a special focus on German for the profession. Three practical phases give you an in-depth insight into various areas of social work. In modules such as methodology, social space orientation, crisis intervention, aesthetic-media practice, professionalisation and law, you will work on projects, practise on real cases, go on excursions and take part in simulations. The five D-modules are a special feature of the programme: They combine specialist content with German language training and prepare you for important communication situations in the social field - for example, counselling interviews, written tasks, contact with authorities and legal texts. In this way, you will learn how to act confidently and get off to a successful start on the German labour market.

In addition to technical and methodological skills, social and personal skills are crucial today. SRH University 's innovative, successful and award-winning CORE principle promotes independent and active learning so that you can apply your knowledge directly in practice - for a clear competitive advantage.
