The applicant is required to study a subject named Research Methodology (Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods), and then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies

Full-time: minimum 4 Semesters (2 Academic Years), maximum 6 Semesters (3 Academic Years)

Part-time: minimum 6 Semesters (3 Academic Years), maximum 10 Semesters (5 Academic Years)

Towards achieving a high-level academic and educational aims to provide a sound educational thought in accordance with the tenets and provisions of Islam and to prepare specialized researchers in the field of Education at master’s and doctorate levels respectively.

To provide a comprehensive educational thoughts and prepare researchers that will be able to understand the effect of education and its critical analysis, initiate and innovate its virtues in line with the tolerant Islamic values, in order to achieve both sides of tradition and modernity in educating Muslims. Enabling them to participate actively in educational consulting services and in the field of education and in various societal sectors designated to manage educational affairs, to contribute to the development of society and human civilization.

  1. To produce Education Practitioners who have advanced knowledge with practical skills capable of using advanced numerical techniques and digital technologies in the educational settings.
  2. To produce Education Practitioners who lead with autonomy, communicate and interact with internal and external stakeholders in constructing innovative practices related to teaching and learning.
  3. To produce Education Practitioners who uphold professional and ethical practices in all education settings and defend the integrity of the profession at all times
  4. To produce Education Practitioners with positive attitude, entrepreneurial mind set and sustainable practices in progressing their career and the profession.

  1. PLO1 critically synthesize and evaluate current knowledge and those emerging from research that are related to teaching and learning in meeting the challenges of a dynamic curriculum
  2. PLO2  evaluate emerging scenarios and innovatively solve educational related issues demonstrating mastery of knowledge, incorporating advanced analytical and numerical techniques.
  3. PLO3 organize and conduct outcomes-based research employing various techniques, including digital technology to strengthen the knowledge and practices on teaching and learning
  4. PLO4 adapt suitable leadership styles and demonstrate responsibility and autonomy in emerging and dynamic educational setting.
  5. PLO5 commit to delivering tasks either individually or through multi-disciplinary teams with good communication and interpersonal skills in all educational and organizational settings
  6. PLO6 uphold professionalism and ethics to fulfil professional teaching and research standards in enhancing the image of the profession at all times
  7. PLO7 exhibit positive attitude and commitment to life-long learning with entrepreneurial mind-set in response to the changing world of education and for professional advancement.

The career paths for students specialized in curriculum and instruction are curriculum specialist follows a trajectory from graduate school to classroom instruction to work as a specialist. Furthermore, students could become a curriculum developers bypassing formal teaching employment. In addition, students in this course may further advance to more senior positions, such as a curriculum manager who oversees curriculum design for a whole school district or working on a regional or national curriculum project. Others advance to become administrators, including in positions like superintendent.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized university OR a Bachelor’s degree in any other relevant field (the candidate will be required to undertake some pre-requisite subjects).
  • If deemed necessary, an applicant may be interviewed and/or required to sit for entrance exams in order to determine his fit for admission into this programme.
  • The faculty may, with the approval of the University Academic Council (UAC), require the applicant to satisfy some additional conditions for admission into this programme.
  • APEL entry is for applicants who are more than 30 years old with a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the relevant field and passed the Certificate of Higher Education Malaysia (STPM) / Diploma / equivalent qualification.


Arabic Language:

Applicants interested to enroll in programmes, where the medium of instruction is in Arabic, must pass the MEDIU’s Arabic Language Placement Test (MAPT) before being admitted into the programme.


English Language

Since the medium of instruction for this program is English, all applicants must meet the English language requirement before being admitted into the programme. Examples include: Having English as their native language.


Substantially worked or studied in an English-speaking country (such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States). English language proficiency exam with a minimum overall band score of 550 in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS.


A minimum overall band score of 4.00 in MEDIU’s English Language Placement Test (MUET).


Any other relevant qualification, which is equivalent to the set standard by the Senate of the University.
